"Gently falls the bakula"

This book was written by Sudha Murthy. Yes she is wife of Infosys N.S. Narayana Murthy. This is the first book I am reading of this author. Wonderful love story.

இவ்வளவு அருமையான பெண் தான் மனைவியாக வருகிறாள். பள்ளியில் மிகச் சிறப்பாக படிக்கும் மாணவன் மாணவி  ஸ்ரீகாந்தும் ஸ்ரீமதியும் காதலித்து மணமுடிக்கிறார்கள். அவனை மணமுடிக்க முடிவு செய்யும் போதே அவனுடைய கடன்களையும் சேர்த்தே தான் ஏற்றுக் கொண்டதாக சொல்கிறாள்.

"He thought she was like the lady who carries a torch and removes all the obstacles on the road to success for her husband. He had taken her for granted. He had a rare diamond in his hand but he was searching for a worthless glass of achievement."

ஆணின் இந்த taken for granted மனநிலை தொடரும் போது தான் ஒரு பெண் தன் மனநிலையை மாற்றிக் கொள்கிறாள்.

அவள் பள்ளியில் முதல் மதிப்பெண் எடுத்த மாணவி. அவன் இரண்டாவது. தன் ஆர்வத்துக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்து சரித்திரம் எடுத்து படிக்கிறாள். அவன் கம்ப்யூட்டர் படித்த பெரிய வேலைக்கு போகிறான். அது தெரிந்தும் அவள் ஆர்வத்தை தாழ்வாக பேசுகிறான். யார் என்று தெரியாத ஒருவனைத் திருமணம் செய்து இது நடக்கும் போது பெண் மனம் அடிபடுவதில்லை. 

Business has taught him to insult a person. Yoy don't need to attack him or her directly. One can do that instead by attacking what that person admires or respects. In company's language it is "Track report"

ஆனால் அவள் அதைப் புரிந்து கொள்கிறாள். "If you can't understand my silence then you will not understand my words" என்று சொல்கிறாள். என் மௌனத்தை புரிந்து கொள்ளாத உன்னால் நான் அதை வெளிப்படுத்தினாலும் என் வார்த்தைகளை புரிந்து கொள்ள முடியாது என்கிறாள்.

Nothing is free in life. In achieving your position you have lost your shrimathi. 

அவள் புத்திசாலியாகவும் பணிவு கொண்டவளாகவும் இருந்ததினாலேயே அவன அவளை அலட்சியப்படுத்தி விட்டான். அவள் கோபமாகவும் தனக்கு வேண்டியதை அழுத்தமாக கேட்டுப் பெருபவளாகவும் இருந்தால் அவன் இவ்வளவு அலட்சியப்படுத்தி இருக்க மாட்டான். 

முடிவு ரொம்ப யதார்த்தமாக இருக்கிறது. இன்றைய திருமணங்கள் பலவும் ஏன் தோல்வி அடைகின்றன என்பதன் காரணம் வெகு தெளிவாக புரிகிறது. கண்டிப்பாக வாசியுங்கள். நல்ல ஒரு எழுத்தாளர் அறிமுகமானதில் மகிழ்ச்சி.
